Our History

Daiso started back in 1972 in Japan when Mr Hirotake Yano opened his first street vending shop, selling 100YEN Products. He later founded Daiso in 1977 and it has grown to over 5500 incredible stores across the globe today. Daiso arrived in Australia in 2010, the first store was opened in Richmond Victoria, it has gain the attention of the Australian consumer right from that moment and that fascination has continued. By 2025 we have grown to 36 stores in 6 states and 1 territory with 11 stores in New South Wales, 10 stores in Queensland, 8 stores in Victoria, 3 stores in South Australia, 3 stores in Western Australia, and 1 store in ACT.

Daiso prides itself on products, stocking over 100,000 different lines across the stores around the world. In Australia, we stock over 25,000 lines, ranging from Food, Beauty, Stationery, Kitchen, Cleaning and many more categories. Customers enjoy looking here and there for special products, discovering the everyday to the unusual. Providing quality, variety and uniqueness. This is what we do at Daiso. In New South Wales there are 11 stores; Blacktown, Burwood, Central Park, Hornsby, Hurstville, Lidcombe, Macquarie Centre, Mandarin Centre, Parramatta, Regent Place, Top Ryde.

In Queensland there are 10 stores: Adelaide
Street, Australia Fair, Chermside, Indooroopilly, Loganholme, Mt Gravatt,
Robina, Sunnybank Hills, Sunnybank Plaza, Sunshine Plaza.

In Victoria there are 8 stores: Box Hill, Chadstone, Eastland, Glen Waverley, Highpoint, Knox, Midtown Plaza, QV.

In South Australia there are 3 stores: Hollywood Plaza, Marion and Rundle Mall Adelaide.

In Western Australia, there are 3 stores: Carousel Cannington, Joondalup, Morley.

In Australian Capital Territory, there is 1 store: Belconnen.
