"We can’t sell things if we don’t have passion and enthusiasm for selling. In this saturated market, we have to offer customers enjoyment while they shop and [give them] good value for their money. That means what we sell must be worth more its price."
The road to success wasn’t easy for Founder and President of Daiso, Hirotake Yano. After years of struggling through debt, long hours, and an astounding 9 cases of almost-bankruptcy, Yano has built himself an empire. The key to this success lies both in his obsession to develop products that offer more value than their price and his endless desire to please his customers.
Yano takes a hands-on approach and involves himself in the development process of the 70,000 product items Daiso now produces for its 3400 stores around the world.
Hirotake Yano is born in Kamo-gun, Hiroshima Prefecture, as the youngest of eight children
